Scholarship Application Instructions

The Migdalia Fund, Inc. (the “Fund”) is proud to announce that applications will be accepted for the Migdalia Vachier Calderon Scholarship (the “Scholarship”) for 2024.

Selection Criteria:

The Migdalia Fund, Inc. supports a holistic review of a candidate’s application. Therefore, we request that applicants prepare a personal biography that should not exceed 500 words. Your biography should specifically discuss barriers affecting your ability to cover your “Expected Financial Contribution” or “Student Aid Index” or other terms used by various institutions to describe your “out-of-pocket cash contribution”, your current career objectives, and any extra-curricular activities you are involved in.

Include a copy of an unofficial college transcript, however the Scholarship Committee reserves the right to request an official copy issued to The Migdalia Fund, Inc. directly by the institution (University).

Eligibility Requirements:

-U.S. citizen, permanent legal resident, or DACA

-Minimum of 3.0 GPA on a 4.0 scale (or equivalent) for high school students; minimum of 2.5 GPA on a 4.0 scale (or equivalent) for matriculated students

-Plan to enroll full-time at Wesleyan University for the 2024-2025 academic year

-Submit the FAFSA or state-based financial aid forms (if applicable)

All the above requested information must be provided along with the completed application for it to be considered. The application must be completed in its entirety.

Award:

Award amounts will range from $250 - $2,000, based on fund availability and relative need.

Timeline:

The application and all supporting documents must be emailed to admin@migdaliafund.org between the dates of 12:01AM EST May 1, 2024 and 11:59PM EST August 1, 2024.

Award recipients will be notified prior to August 22, 2024.

Awards will be mailed out by August 28, 2024

The Migdalia Fund, Inc. pays the scholarship awards directly to the recipient. It is the recipients' duty to report the award to their respective financial aid office as well as to report it on the subsequent year's FAFSA form.

The Migdalia Fund, Inc. will not be responsible for these reports and cannot be held responsible for any adverse actions held against an award recipient who fails to report the award as noted above.
